Antique Tribal Turkmen Tubra Bag Rug Face Burgundy Red Blue Tassels Blue 1-8×3-5
1′ 8″x3′-51″ (51cm x 99cm), Circa 1960’s, Excellent condition, DCS08126
This is a classic, antique tent-flap used by a Turkmen family to insulate and protect those inside as well as to signal visitors that the weaver is skillful and deeply-rooted in her tribal culture. Though it clearly has a three different panels, this rug was likely not used on the ground as such. Partly for this reason, this predominantly rust (2 shades) with ivory, brown and blue and black Tekke is in superb condition for its age. The knotting is quite fine, as you would expect from this group. The Tassels are in mint and pristine condition.
